Doctor en Ciencia Política por el Instituto Universitario Europeo de Florencia y Profesor Titular de Política Comparada en la Universidad de Nottingham. Codirector del Research Centre for the Study of Parties and Democracy (REPRESENT) y miembro del “Core Group of Political Party Experts” de la OSCE/ODIHR, es también experto del Consejo de Europa y colaborador de la Westminster Foundation for Democracy e IDEA Internacional.
